about his trip to paris, and we discover that Kirsty aced her exams and

Returns 1 (H&A Clip 477) - Kirsty and Irene talk about Kane's test he's undergoing,
hoping it will be his last. When a stranger asks about the Caravan Park,
Irene thinks he looks familiar. He tells her he has unfinished business
in the Bay. Hayley is trapped in a fire at the Palace. The stranger
rescues her. At the hospital he is treated for a burn on his arm. Gus
Returns 2 (H&A Clip 478+9) - Kane phones Kirsty from the hospital telling her the
test is done and now they have to wait. He asks Irene why she's there.
Irene thanks Gus for saving Hayley. She then tells Kane about the "reluctant
hero". Kane is shocked when he meets the Hero - he's his father.
Gus tells Kane he's there to see him. Kane is furious. Gus tells him
he's changed. Kane warns him to leave town and not mess up his life,
then storms off. Gus
Returns 3 (H&A Clip 480+1) - Kane is angry when he returns home and snaps at Kirsty.
He then tells her Gus is back and for him he died years ago. Gus leaves
a message which Kane listens to. Kirsty tries to get him to talk to
his father. He tells her some people don't change and leaves. When out
in the woods Kane has flashbacks of his father's abuse and hurts himself.

Returns 4 (H&A Clip 482) - Gus shows up at the Beach House looking for Kane, and
is surprised to see that Kirsty is Kane's wife. Gus tries to explain
his actions towards Kane when he was younger, and admits he deserved
better. He just wants to make amends. Kirsty invites him in to wait.
Kirsty tells Gus about the baby. Kane is angered to see Gus there and
throws him out of the house. He's furious with Kirsty and storms out.

Returns 5 (H&A Clip 483) - Irene chides Kane for his treatment of Kirsty and tells
him to apologise. Kane finds Kirsty on the beach, he apologises and
tries to tell her why he was angry with his father. He tells her to
stay away from Gus, Kirsty agrees to. Kirsty apologises to Kane for
letting Gus in and tells him he seemed genuine. Kane tells her he's
a conman. He then tells her about his childhood with Gus and the abuse
he and his mother went through. Gus
Returns 6 (H&A Clip 484+5+6) - Colleen's surprised that the stranger was Gus. As Irene
and the others prepare for dinner, Hayley asks Kirsty if Kane is going
to talk to his father. Kirsty tells her there's been too much done for
that. Alone in the bedroom, Kane is looking at an old family picture.
He hides it when Kirsty enters. Hayley talks about the fire but things
get awkward when she mentions Gus saving her life, and Robbie's attitude.
Hayley and Kane talk about father's and the mistakes they make - including
future ones that Kane himself might make. Gus

is getting bigger, making the baby more real for them. Kane walks along
the beach and sees a father and son. He then meets Gus in the Diner.

- Gus and Kane talk, with Gus explaining that he has now seen the error
of his ways and how badly he treated his family. He describes what he
went through in prison - he's a changed man, and apologises profoundly

- Gus wonders if he and Kane will be able to put the past behind them
sometime down the track. Kane jumps back when Gus touches him on the
shoulder, before walking away to lift up his shirt, revealing his scars

- Kane returns home to talk to Kirsty, insisting that he has not been
taken in by Gus' 'changed man' routine. He doesn't want to see Gus
again, but Kirsty is obviously reluctant for Kane to cut his ties with

- Kirsty runs into Gus at the Diner, and he seems to be trying to get to
Kane through her, revealing that he is after his son's forgiveness. He

- Kane and Kirsty talk baby names, but she is distracted after her
conversation with Gus. Kane is upset to learn that Kirsty has spoken to
him, and insists that she keep away from him in future - he doesn't want

- Kane and Kirsty talk to Hayley about the Palace fire. Kirsty then
tries to encourage Kane to talk to his father - she knows he has ongoing
issues over his childhood. However, he insists that he doesn't need his

- Kane sends Gus away when he finds him at the bar, asking that he
doesn't try and use Kirsty as a way of getting to him again. H&A-Clip496
- Gus approaches Kirsty again, but Kirsty is adamant that, although she
thinks Kane has stuff to sort out, he won't listen to her. Gus announces
that he is leaving on a bus first thing in the morning, and hands Kirsty
something in a bag 'for the baby' - Kane should remember it. He asks her
to let him know when he is a grandfather, and says that he will be in
the diner in the morning before he leaves - if Kane changes his

- Kirsty arrives home with Tasha and is surprised to find that Kane is
back from work early with a headache. He is incensed that she has spoken
to Gus again, and she hands him Gus' 'gift' - he recognises it as his
first footie. Whilst he has calmed down, Kirsty makes an emotional plea
for him to soprt things out with his father - for both his sake and for
the sake of their child - he needs to get rid of his emotional baggage.
In the morning, Gus leaves the diner. He arrives at the bus stop, and
when he is about to board the bus Kane shows up. He says that Flynn and
Sally will let him have the van for another few days - if he wants. Gus

- Kane and Gus walk up the beach, tentatively talking about Kane's
reason for being there, and Gus' reasons for returning to the

- Gus has dinner with Kane and Kirsty at the diner, and they talk about
the bush fires - and the body that was found. Kane and Kirsty leave to
get his test results from the hospital, and Gus asks them to let him

- Kane and Kirsty nervously wait in the hospital waiting room, as Flynn
is late. The new nurse Zoe talks enthusiastically to them H&A-Clip501
- Kane decides that Flynn's lateness means that it is bad news. Kirsty
reassures him. Flynn calls them through and tells them the good news -
Kane is in remission! They are ecstatic. They attend Leah and Dan's
engagement party, and everyone is happy for them H&A-Clip502
- Kane visits his father to tell him the good news, and to invite him to
a celebration dinner. Kane returns to the party, and tells Kirsty that
perhaps Gus has changed for the better. At the diner, Gus receives an
unwelcome phone call, insisting that 'Greg' leaves him alone. H&A-Clip503
- Kane and Kirsty enjoy the party, whilst Gus is still being pestered by
phone calls. Paranoid, he looks out of the window of the diner,

- Irene reminds a penniless Kane about an unpaid bill, unable to help
him out - they come to an agreement. His medical bills are troubling
him. The celebration dinner is off, as Kirsty has gone to visit Laura,
who is ill. He hasn't yet broken the news to Gus, and goes to do so.
Kane and Gus decide to have dinner without Kirsty instead - just the two
of them. Later, Gus arrives for dinner as Irene heads off for

- Gus and Kane prepare dinner, and discuss their domestic abilities -
Kane is determined to become more domestic when he becomes a father, as
changing nappies etc. is all part of being a good Dad. They toast new

- Kane and Gus eat dinner, and discuss Gus' time in jail. He got himself
into trouble for 'lagging' on someone, as he didn't want someone else to
go down for something they didn't do. If he ever went back to prison, he
reckons he would be dead in a week - a good incentive to keep on the

- Kane sees Gus out - and is surprised that he actually enjoyed himself.
Irene arrives back from work and Kane states that Gus isn't the jerk he
grew up with. On his way home, Gus runs into Greg Kelly, an old
associate who is after some money that Gus owed him. If he doesn't get
hold of the money - 3 grand - then he and Kane will be in danger. At
firstl Gus is adamant that he doesn't want to veer off the straight and
narrow - but it seems the only way that he can get that sort of

- Gus grabs a strong coffee from the diner. His phone is ringing again -
Greg - and he assures him that he is working on getting the money. At
the bar, Kane gets some money together for Hayley to bank. He asks her
for some extra shifts and she agrees to see what she can do. H&A-Clip509
- Kane counts out some money at the bar. Gus arrives and eyes the money
when Kane's back is turned. However, Hayley interrupts and he
leaves. H&A-Clip510
- Kane also visits the diner for a strong coffee, and Irene mentions
that Gus was also looking worse for wear. Outside, Gus assures Greg over
the phone that he'll have the money within the week. Kane finds him, and
he denies that anything is wrong, making his excuses and

- Gus visits Kane at work, and informs him that he's found a new job -
in Queensland. He'll be leaving the bay the following morning, and Kane
is stunned. Gus wants them to keep in touch, and Kane asks him to stick
around until his break - it'll be their last time to catch up for a

- Kane suggests that he and Kirsty visit him in Queensland sometime. Gus
again denies that anything is wrong at all - apart from the fact vthat
he was nervous as to how Kane would react about him leaving. He'll be
heading off early in the morning, and tries to talk Kane out of seeing

- Kane and Gus bid farewell at the bus stop, and Gus makes sure Kane
leaves before he gets on the bus - but he never gets on, and once Kane
is out of sight he walks off into the bush. At home, Kane talks to Irene
about Gus leaving. Gus walks through the bush and talks to Greg on the phone

- Kane bumps into Hayley at the Diner, and she has managed to get him
some extra shifts. Kane rejects Alf's offer of a loan - he has something
up his sleevs to get some more cash. He muses that his father should be
half way to Queensland by now - however, in reality he is still in the
bush, pulling a gun out of his bag H&A-Clip515
- Kane asks to leave work early, as he is feeling ill - Hayley agrees to
let him go. H&A-Clip516
- At home, Kane receives a call from Gus to pick him up - he's in
trouble. Once Gus is in the car, he reveals that a man has been after
money from him - he did a job to pay him off, and accidentally set an
alarm off. Kane is infuriated at Gus for getting him involved. He pulls
over and demands Gus get out of the car - but sirens are heard in the
background. Despite Kane's pleas for him to stay, Gus does a runner -
leaving his bag, complete with money and gun, in the car. The police
catch up with Kane - and upon them finding the bag, Kane is arrested for

- Kane is frustrated as he is kept waiting at the police station - even
Peter seems to think he is guilty. Morag arrives back at the Diner and
receives a call from Kane who needs a solicitor. She, Irene and Alf go
to the police station, where Morag talks with Kane and Irene argues with
Peter. Kane is interviewed by Peter and Harper, and Alf talks Irene out
of calling Kirsty just yet. Irene is angered that Alf can understand
where the cops are coming from by accusing Kane. The interview goes
badly for Kane but he is bailed - much to Harper's disgust. At home,
Kane can't believe what his own father has done to him, and Irene

- Kane tears up a picture of his family, before staring at a photo of he
and Kirsty's recommitment ceremony. He then calls her to break the news

- Hayley feels bad about her interview with the police, but Kane and
Irene reassure her. Morag's at the police station, and is angry to
discover that Peter wants to interview Kane again - new information has
come to light. Peter admits that, deep down, he believes Kane - but he
has procedure to follow. Kane is pleased to hear that Peter is on his
side. Kirsty arrives home, distraught, to support him - he is concerned
about the way that she is stressing herself out. At the station, there
has been a witness come forward to the robbery - he goes around to the
beach House, where Kane is trying to convince Kirsty that it's not her
fault. Peter bears bad news - the witness identified Kane from a photo.
They are stunned. Kane is interviewed again, before being taken to do a
line up. He is identified by Greg Kelly, and charged with armed robbery

- Kirsty thanks Morag for her help. Kane is to be bailed and he and
Kirsty are tearfully reunited. Tasha is pleased to see Kane return home
- she can't believe that they locked him up in the first place. They

- Kane has worked out that the witness must be the man that Gus owed
money to - Morag agrees that he would be a likely suspect, but proving
it won't be simple - there must have been something in it for him to
have made such a risk. Kane suggests that the witness is still after his
money from Gus - so long as Gus is outside, he could still get it. Morag

- Kane is glad to hear that Peter has agreed to check out his theory re.
the witness. He reassures an anxious Kirsty, who knows he didn't get any
sleep the previous night. They squabble about snoring, before heading
off to report at the police station. Kane is upset that it's the one

- Kane shows up for work, and Scott assures him that he never thought
that he did it. Kane is worried about Kirsty, but isn't keen on the
thought of Gus showing up - then they really would have reason to arrest
him, because he wouldn't be responsible for his actions. At the Beach
House, Kirsty talks to Beth, trying to hold it together. However, she
breaks down when reminded of her pregnancy - it's not fair that they
have waited so long to become parents and now Kane might not be there

- Morag breaks the news that the witness has no record or obvious
connection to Gus. Kane suggests that he do some investigating of his
own, but Morag warns him off. It looks like Kane will go down if they

- Morag is trying her best to track Gus down, and Kane has some mates on
the lookout. Without Gus, however, things look dire - and Kane knows it.
He muses that Gus doesn't want to go back to prison because he grassed
someone up, not wanting to see someone go down for a crime they didn't

- Kane and Kirsty bump into Jesse and Scott at the hospital - Scott is

- Kane and Kirsty return home, glad that everyone involved in the plane
crash got off so lightly - it's about time they got their own miracle.
Kirsty is optimistic about his charges - and it seems that she's right
to be, as they pick up a message from the answering machine. Greg
Harvey, the witness, was the man that Gus did a job with years

- Kane is incensed when he calls back the mate to discover that the lead
was vague - he "knew a mate who knew someone who reckoned that he
had seen someone who looked like Gus". He gets increasingly wound
up, throwing the phone across the room in a rage. Kirsty eventually
calms him down, but she is cross that he has to take his anger out on
her and storms out. He finds her to apologise and explain, before
deciding that he should be looking for Greg - Kirsty insists that he
doesn't get himself into more trouble by doing so. She makes him promise

- Peter is greeted icily by Kane in the Diner. Kane asks whether the
witness being proved a liar would get him off the hook - Peter is

- Peter leaves the Diner, unaware that Kane copied Greg's address from
the notebook when his back was turned. When he returns home, he sits and

-After helping with the washing up, Kane goes into their room to phone
Greg. Kirsty walks in on him, and is livid that he was going to do it
after he promised he wouldn't - can he not see what he is doing? He
tries to justify his actions, but Kirsty doesn't see how he is helping

- Things are still icy been Kirsty and Kane in the morning. Neither of
them slept, and he decides to get them some breakfast from the diner -
they'll talk when he gets back. She faces away from him, obviously in
pain, and after he has left she keels over, clutching her stomach and

- Kane arrives back to find Kirsty on the floor in pain - she thinks

- Kane waits at the hospital - Flynn has seen her and has sent her for

- Flynn arrives bearing good news - the baby's fine, it's just an
inflamed fibroid aggravated by stress. Kirsty will always have the
condition, which could trigger an early labour, but they just have to be

- Kane makes a phone call from the hospital, asking the recipient to

- Morag has arrived at the hospital, and Kane announces that he wants
the trial as soon as possible - a reluctant Morag agrees to see what she
can do to help, but advises against it. Kane just wants it over with so

- Kane is beside Kirsty's bedside. Morag arrives, bearing the news that
they can have the trial in two weeks - Kane's pleased, but she's not

with some roses. He then drags her off home to rest, concerned that

- Kane has decided to visit Scott in prison, and Kirsty wonders if it's

- Kane and Kirsty interrupt Kim and Hayley's secret kiss. Morag arrives

- Kane and Scott come face to face again, with Scott wondering what he

Scott seems pleased that Kane has finally got caught for something, but
Kane insists he didn't do it and asks after Gus, wanting to know if
Scott knows where he's staying. Scott says he doesn't, before asking
after Summer Bay, the crazy girl and the new wife. Kane pleads with
Scott for information, but Scott reminds him that it's actually Kane

- Kane tries to explain to Scott that, with his impending fatherhood, he
can't just leave Kirsty, but Scott isn't sympathetic. Kane reminds Scott
of what they went through as children, and Scott admits that, although
he doesn't know Gus' whereabouts, he did confess to doing a job that
Kane 'took the rap for'. He agrees to tell the cops - on condition that
Kane does something for him first. Outside, Kane tells Morag that Scott
wants her to represent him, and Morag reluctantly agrees to cooperate -
in exchange for Scott's testimony. It may be hearsay, but she just wants

- Kane has a strange feeling about how well things are going, but Kirsty
insists that he repeat after her - "everything's going to be

- Kane wonders how many of his friends are going to be pulled onto the
stand against him, but Morag is optimistic - Scott's testimony could do
a lot. They talk character witnesses - Irene will take the stand, as
will Scott, and it is decided that Kirsty will also speak. Teamed with
Scott's statement, Morag believes character witnesses could be the key.
She refuses to allow Kane to speak for himself in court - the

- Kane overhears a conversation in the diner, and realises that his
arrest is the reason behind bad business on the Blaxland. He wants to

- Kane and Kirsty go for breakfast at the Diner, Kirsty refusing to be

- Kane is upset that all his work in the Bay has been for nothing - he
worked hard to become a model citizen. Kirsty assures him that she's
proud of him - and their child will be. They leave to attend the

- Kirsty and Kane attend the ultrasound, and are thrilled to see their
child. They discover that it's a boy, and the doctor-man tells them
about his own recent fatherhood - and all the memorable moments. Kane

boy. She's ecstatic for them, but notices his distantness - he admits

guilty - and what would happen. She tries to run off, before breaking
down - she just wants to be with him and doesn't want to think about it.
He explains that Irene's happy for she and the baby to stay on - he

- Kirsty is upset as Dalby and 'Wazza' loudly talk about Kane as a
criminal. Kane is furious that they have upset his wife and gets rough

- Kane is frustrated that everyone has turned against him again. He

- Morag tells Kane that Scott has been given permission to testify. She
predicts his chances as 50/50 - better if he remains positive, and he
thanks her for her help. Kirsty arrives home, having come to a decision.

prosecutor make their opening addresses, Hayley testifies. The following
day, PC Harper takes the stand, followed by Greg Kelly. Irene, Scott

- The following day, Scott
Phillips' testimony damages Kane's case. Morag refuses to let Kane take
the stand, and she and the prosecutor deliver the closing speeches. Back at the beach house, Kane and Kirsty worry about the
possibility of he being found guilty. They feel their baby kick, and
Kane decides he can't be locked away - they can't lock him away if they
can't find him. Irene receives a call from Morag - a verdict has been
reached - and KK tell Irene that they'll make their own way to the
court, bidding a teary farewell. As Kane and Kirsty prepare to depart,
those at court worry where they are - they need to start. Kane and
Kirsty leave the beach house. The court runs out of patience waiting for Kane, and a warrant
is issued for his arrest. The verdict is read - guilty - but Kane and
Kirsty are on their way out of town. Kane stops to make sure it is what
she wants, but she is confident that as long as they're together,
nothing else matters. They pledge their love before driving out of the
